Odyssey is our innovative, purpose-built learning program for Years 7 and 8, designed to set students up for success—academically, socially, and personally. It’s more than just a curriculum; it’s a carefully crafted two-year journey that builds confidence, curiosity, and capability in our youngest Senior School students.
The move from primary to secondary school can be daunting—but Odyssey makes it exciting. In Year 7, students are based in a dedicated learning hub, providing stability as they navigate new freedoms and expectations. With the support of consistent tutors, flexible learning spaces and a close- knit cohort, they develop strong learning habits and positive peer relationships. In Year 8, they step further into Senior School life, building on this foundation with increasing independence and confidence.
Pursuit  Deep learning in core subjects like English, Maths, Science and HSIE, providing essential academic foundations
Quest  Interdisciplinary, project-based learning where students tackle real- world questions and develop creative and critical thinking skills.
Elevate  Weekly coaching and mentoring sessions that build self-awareness, foster strong connections with tutors and peers, and develop lifelong learning strategies.
Odyssey balances academic challenge with hands-on, meaningful experiences. Through excursions, visiting experts and collaborative 'Magic Days', students connect classroom learning with real-world contexts. By Year 8, they’re leading inquiry projects, engaging with the community, and learning to think expansively about their role in the world.
Odyssey was created by a dedicated team of BMGS educators in collaboration with leading thinkers and partner organisations, including the Future Schools Alliance and Stanford University’s d.school. It draws on global best practice in education to equip students with the mindsets and capabilities they’ll need for the future.
